1900'S BELL WET CELL TELEPHONE BATTERY JAR
Battery Jar. A rare collectible antique from the Oxychlorine Chemical Co.
Wet cell jar is usually filled with sulfuric acid or other acidic liquid.
One plate is Zinc and the other Lead for energy transfer between contacts mounted on top of the jar. Contacts have a rubber and fabric washer on both inside and outside of the lid.
GROUND LIP, BROWN GLASS and has "Oxychlorine Chemical Co., Chicago U.S.A." imprinted on a side.
Complete jar measures 8 1/4" tall x 4 3/8" diameter. GUARANTEED TO HAVE NO CHARGE!... LOL...
Battery Jar is in very good condition. Mostly it just has some dust and dirt residue on it that will clean up easily. Rubber and fabric washers have gone hard over time and would need replacing if jar were to be used again. Contacts have power residue and corrosion on them from previous use. Jar is COMPLETE, with contacts, metal plates, and lid. No cracks or breaks at all. WELL PACKED!
